Sandra Leal, ACE project director for Santa Rosa ISD, briefed trustees on fall afterschool offerings Sept. 16 and reviewed a calendar of family and community events.
"Texas ACE empowers students to realize their potential and change the world!" Leal said, outlining the program's four activity types: targeted academic support, student-interest enrichment, college-and-career readiness, and family engagement. She provided event dates including a Lotería night Sept. 26 and a planned Mum Night on Oct. 24, and flagged planned community presentations on suicide prevention and drug awareness.
Leal highlighted 2023–24 program successes: the district's Tech Changemakers work provided digital-literacy training to 7,504 adults and Santa Rosa ISD became the first district in Texas to have two students receive CDL certification through a shared program. She also listed ACE team staff and coordinators who support implementation across campuses.
Board members received the update; no board action was required.
