Council amends police budget to move remaining law-enforcement technology grant into current year

The common council on Aug. 5 approved Resolution 25-26-15 to amend the police budget and add $14,939.13 of previously unspent law-enforcement technology grant revenue to the 2025–26 fiscal year.
Council members said the remaining grant money is earmarked for equipment purchases approved by the state grant. “Whereas $14,939.13 of this tech grant remains unspent as of 06/30/25,” a council reading of the resolution stated. The resolution lists items eligible under the grant, including a drone, radar signs and license-plate-recognition equipment.
Supporters said the transfer is an accounting step to ensure the funds are available to purchase equipment this year. The motion passed by roll call with the council recording unanimous aye votes during the formal roll call vote.
