Work session notes: Starbucks rises, Take 5 awaits county site-plan, Ameren substation consolidation approved by P&Z

Trustees reviewed several development and community items at the June 2, 2025 work session and moved remaining matters toward the formal agenda.
Chairman Bornmueller reported that Starbucks construction is moving quickly, with walls up and roof trusses expected imminently. Trustee Fulton said Take 5 Oil Change is waiting for St. Louis County site-plan approval; once granted, demolition and grading permits may be issued. Planning & Zoning approved a lot consolidation for an Ameren substation; the board noted two ordinances related to the site plan and sketch plan would be on the regular meeting agenda. Trustees observed HVAC and electrical activity at a local nail salon and noted a previously discussed container ordinance has been forwarded to the attorney for review.
The session also covered community items: a recycling event scheduled for June 14 (9:00 AM–Noon) with volunteer setup at 8:30 AM and provided reflector vests; an advertisement for part-time office help was posted to the village website and planned for local print; Oak Knoll Manor residents raised speeding concerns and trustees discussed speed-bump disadvantages such as delayed emergency response and snow-removal complications; and a draft enforcement letter regarding a sign on equipment at 7823 Watson was to be reviewed by the attorney before issuance.
Trustee Fulton moved to adjourn the work session at 6:15 p.m.; Trustee Boergadine seconded and the session adjourned.
