Commissioners approve $80,484 change orders and ARPA-funded dock-board purchase for new public-health EOC

County staff told the court the Public Health Emergency Operations Center (Goodwin project in transcript) is nearly complete but requires two change orders and additional equipment purchases to finish. The first change order (about $36,000) adds roughly 14 days and pays for modifications to credenza millwork and ventilation to address heat in AV equipment. The second change order (about $26,000) covers revisions to the ERRC (emergency responder radio coverage) system, a bronze plaque cost and a speak-through window frame. The total amount shown in the agenda was $80,484.63, with ARPA interest-earnings funds identified as the source for the dock-board purchase.

"This 1st change order is adding some days to the project because we encountered an issue that was in our critical path that actually did extend the time of the contract," the project lead said, describing both the millwork ventilation work and the ERRC changes. Purchasing staff added that dock boards will be used where embedded dock-leveling systems were not installed; the boards function as heavy-duty ramps to bridge the trailer-to-dock gap and allow safe forklift loading. The court moved and approved the change orders and authorized the dock-board purchase.
