District reflects on Parent University turnout, multilingual survey plans and upcoming Rebecca Winthrop visit

Director of Student Services Dr. Sean Rhoads reported that Center Cass School District 66 hosted its 3rd Annual Parent University at Elizabeth Ide Elementary on Jan. 28, 2026. Approximately 40 families attended in person; district staff, PAC members and community partners led breakout sessions focused on social‑emotional supports and family resources. Resources from the event will be shared district‑wide.
Dr. Rhoads also said the Multilingual Parent Advisory Council finalized plans to distribute a survey to gather feedback from multilingual families on communication preferences and support needs. Separately, the district announced that researcher Rebecca Winthrop — co‑author of The Disengaged Teen and Director of Education at the Brookings Institution — will present to parents, students and staff Feb. 26–27; one public session is scheduled for Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Lakeview Junior High LRC.
