Council approves study contract for Azalea City Golf Course master plan

City staff described a new agreement with Richard Mandelkoff Architecture to perform a master plan and business assessment for Azalea City Golf Course. The consultant's scope includes on-site walkthroughs, engagement with user groups, review of past plans, operational and maintenance assessment, and a phased recommendation for improvements. Staff said the architect could also provide design services later for an additional fee.

"He's gonna come in. He's gonna do, walk throughs with all of the different committees and groups that's out there to find out the usability of it, the tee times, the operations, the maintenance operations, and look at all of that," a staff presenter said. Council members praised the proposal and noted the course is a popular city amenity; some suggested using district funds for portions of the project. Staff said the consultant will include community engagement as part of the process and will deliver a phased plan recognizing that the work cannot be completed in one funding cycle.
