The Village of Maybrook on Feb. 24 unanimously approved hiring Nicholas Marscheider as a police officer, the board heard. Lt. D. Barnett recommended Marscheider as a lateral transfer with two years of NYPD experience and prior service as an Army medic; the board approved a starting rate of $28.49 per hour. The clerk then administered the Oath of Office.
Lt. Barnett told trustees Marscheider will need to take the NYPD conversion course required for lateral transfers. The board also voted 5-0 to remove PO Lloyd from probation at Lt. Barnett's recommendation, signaling the department is stabilizing staffing as additional candidates are being recruited for spring start dates.
