The Abington Heights School Board unanimously selected Mark to fill the at‑large board vacancy and administered the oath of office during its Aug. 5 meeting.
Chair announced the result after board members completed a rank‑ordering process that, under Pennsylvania code explained at the meeting, requires five votes to fill the vacancy. "We actually had a unanimous vote for Mark ... to take a seat on the Abington Heights board," the chair said as the board reported the appointee received first‑place votes from all present members. The appointee returned online and a notary read the oath of office; the appointee affirmed.
The formal motion to appoint the qualified elector to the unexpired term ending November 2027 was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. The record reflected the oath was administered and the new director was seated.
Board members said they would contact the appointee after the tally and follow up on onboarding steps. The board immediately resumed its agenda and approved several subsequent personnel and budget motions.
