Knoxville council approves employee choice for health plans; selects MetLife for life and disability coverage
Summary
The council authorized staff to present health, dental and vision plan options and allow employees to choose among them, and approved MetLife as the provider for life/AD&D/short-term disability. Votes were 6–0 with two absences.
Mr. Michael Rozum presented comparative options and pricing for employee health, dental and vision plans and for life/AD&D/short-term disability coverage.
Alderman Gruner moved that Rozum present the available health, dental and vision plan options directly to employees and allow employees to choose the plan that best suits them; Alderman Moore seconded the motion and it passed with six Yes votes and two Absent. Separately, Alderman Hillier moved to accept MetLife as the new provider for employee life/AD&D/short-term disability; Alderman Gruner seconded and that motion also passed 6–0 (two absent).
