The Florence Board approved several personnel training and membership items on Oct. 21, 2025. Alderman John Banks moved to send Police Chief Brad Burns to the 2025 Winter Educational Conference in Oxford, MS, Dec. 9–12, 2025, with the city covering the $375 registration fee and related allowable costs; the motion carried unanimously.
The board also approved sending Mark Hester, Brad Burns, David Myers and Tyler Hayes to Sigma Chemical Spill Response training in Pearl, MS, on Nov. 6, 2025; the city will pay a $135 registration fee for each attendee. Separately, the board approved a $175 payment to the Mississippi Building Officials' Association for annual membership dues.
The minutes do not list funding sources for these items beyond the notation that costs will be covered "as allowed by state law."
