Florence accepts two police resignations and hires new patrolman

The Governing Authorities of the City of Florence accepted the resignations of two police officers and approved a new hire during an executive session on July 15, 2025. The council voted to accept the resignations of Officer Cody Parfait and Officer David Dear, both effective July 9, 2025.
During the same executive session, and "upon recommendation of Chief Burns," the council voted to hire Canyon Bilbro as a full‑time patrolman at $21.06 per hour, with a start date of July 17, 2025, contingent on a successful background check and drug and alcohol testing. Votes on the hire and the resignations were recorded individually and carried (Aldermen Banks, Grantham, Herrin, Martin and Sistrunk voted aye). The body returned to open session at 7:15 p.m. and adjourned the meeting the same evening.
