Salcedo said both the county superintendent and the county board must file responses and asked the board to consider appointing President Berman or an ad hoc committee of three trustees to serve as a board point of contact so staff could expedite draft responses.
Salcedo said she had drafted a response for the board's consideration and suggested Nadra (staff) could be the board's representative to coordinate edits before a full board review. "Nadra would be happy to be the board's representative," she said. She also outlined the response timelines: 60 days for the county superintendent and 90 days for the county board; trustees discussed focusing the board response on county‑operated juvenile court and community schools while recognizing districts will prepare their own responses.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about scope (whether early childhood programs should be included) and confirmed staff intend to share draft responses with districts as examples. The board agreed to work with the superintendent and staff to finalize the board response and to keep the full board included before any letters are sent to the grand jury.
