The Central School District #3 Board of Education on May 20 voted to place its 2025–2026 amended budget on public display and scheduled a public hearing for June 24, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. Member Kindel Kestner moved the action and it passed on a roll call vote with Kestner, President Andrew Dearwester, Vice President Holly Veach, Member Jason Cooley and Member Patrick Hasting recorded as voting "Aye" and Members Andrea Foss and Nikki Buehler noted as absent in the minutes.
At the same meeting the board designated Superintendent Erica Smith to develop the tentative budget for the 2026–2027 school year and authorized her to spend funds prior to the board's final approval. The motion to give Smith that authority passed on a roll call vote, with Members Hasting and Cooley recorded as the mover and seconder for the motion that was carried by the voting members present.
The board took the actions as part of its routine May meeting. The decisions set the process for public review of the amended budget and allow administrative continuity in purchasing and budgeting ahead of next year, subject to later board approval.
