Council adopts 2024 International Fire Code to align with state standards

Jeff Puls summarized the code changes and their operational importance, saying updates help ensure adequate water supply for suppression and proper hydrant placement and apparatus access for taller or denser construction. "This lets us get into the places that are really needs to, especially for the heights and as we build," he said.
Council moved and passed the ordinance unanimously (5–0). Staff said the update keeps Murray’s fire and life safety standards current and consistent with the state.
