Florence board appoints new city officials, makes mayor a full‑time post at $70,000

Mayor Trey Gunn and the Florence Board of Aldermen approved a slate of appointments and changed the mayoral position to full time at a July 1 meeting.
On the mayor's recommendation the board named Alderman Brian Grantham Mayor Pro‑Tem (Grantham abstained on that appointment). The body also appointed Attorney Bobby Lingold as city attorney and prosecutor and authorized the mayor to execute an agreement with Lingold. Engineering Service and City Engineer Tim Parker were appointed as city engineer with an accompanying agreement, and Linda Wigley was appointed city clerk. The board selected Windham & Lacey, PLLC as municipal auditors.
The board unanimously appointed Brad Burns as police chief, Melissa McCue as court clerk, Kevin Stewart as municipal judge, Witney Adams as judge pro‑tem and Greg Hemphill as indigent attorney. In a separate motion the board voted to make the mayor a full‑time position beginning Aug. 1, 2025, at an annual salary of $70,000.00.
Most appointment motions passed unanimously; the record shows Grantham abstained on the mayor pro‑tem vote. The actions were taken during the regular July 1 meeting at Florence City Hall.
