Two members of the public spoke during the special meeting's public-participation period to urge the board to back a cooperative football agreement. Nick French, described in the minutes as a Cerro Gordo alumnus and parent, urged the board to find a way for athletes to have a football season and to make a long-term plan beyond the proposed cooperative agreement. Courtney Lehew spoke in support as well and highlighted the work the youth league has done to boost and sustain participation in the JFL program.
Their comments preceded the board's discussion of a proposed cooperative among Cerro Gordo, Arcola, and Bement for 2025–2026 and 2026–2027. The board subsequently approved the agreement; Superintendent Weidner had explained that Arcola will host varsity play and that JV play would be contingent on sufficient player numbers.
