At a special meeting on July 29, 2025, the Cerro Gordo CUSD 100 Board of Education voted to approve a cooperative football agreement with Arcola and Bement for the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 seasons. Superintendent Weidner told the board the district had pursued multiple options over the past year, including recruitment efforts, a spring cooperative with Okaw Valley that did not proceed, and consideration of 8-man football association membership. He said Arcola contacted Cerro Gordo and Bement the week of July 21 and that the agreement would provide a varsity season for athletes in all three districts; junior varsity games would be possible if there are sufficient players. Under the agreement Arcola will host the season while Cerro Gordo and Bement will provide transportation.
Board discussion centered on providing students an opportunity to play and on ensuring fair and equal treatment of Cerro Gordo players within the Arcola-hosted program. With no further action, President Miller adjourned the meeting at 6:28 p.m.
