The Cerro Gordo CUSD #100 Board of Education recessed into executive session at 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 15, 2025, citing Illinois open-meetings law provisions 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), (9) and (10) covering personnel, student disciplinary matters and special-education placements. The motion to enter executive session was made by President Miller and seconded by Curran; the roll-call vote was recorded as unanimous.
After returning to open session at 7:14 p.m., the board approved several personnel actions. President Miller moved to hire Sara O'Laughlin as a teacher's aide at Cerro Gordo Elementary School; Bebar seconded and the motion carried on roll call. The board also approved honorariums for volunteer coaches Allen Helms, Camron Smith, Karina Rodriguez, Zeb Turner and Megan Howell (motion by Bebar, second by Curran); Howell abstained on the honorariums and the remaining members voted yea. Finally, the board accepted resignations from Karina Rodriguez and Allen Helms from junior high and high school softball coaching positions (motion by Runyen, second Miller), with the motion passing on roll call.
The board recorded full roll-call tallies for each motion. These personnel decisions were recorded as formal board actions in the minutes and will be reflected in personnel records; the board did not provide additional details about reasons for the resignations in the minutes. The meeting continued with other agenda items following these approvals.
