Board hears updates on water-tower agreement, lead-service-line notice, pond audit and animal control

The Village Board received updates on several ongoing infrastructure and service items during the Jan. 19 meeting.
President Powers reported that a short-form agreement related to water-tower painting and controls was corrected from a 30-day to a 60-day term and signed before being returned to Farnsworth Group. The board discussed the Lead Service Line Inventory grant and noted that, per the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency requirement, residents who may have lead service lines must be notified. Trustee M. Hyde said the IDNR left a voicemail indicating it no longer performs pond audits; M. Hyde will obtain a contractor quote. Clerk Kelley Morrison said she contacted Bement about animal-control services and reported there is currently nowhere locally to take an animal; Trustee Walsh will reach out to Willow Branch to explore options.
Attorney Susan Nicholas said she would resubmit the quitclaim deed for 207 South St on Jan. 20, 2026. Trustees assigned follow-up tasks for quotes and administrative filings.
