The Cerro Gordo CUSD #100 Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions at its July 16 meeting, including mentor assignments for new teachers and the hire of a certified social studies teacher.
Member Howell moved to approve mentor assignments—Vicky Gilpin to mentor Kathleen White; Kelly Martina to mentor Bionca Tabbert and Amy Grove; Sara Looper to mentor Hunter Tucker; Rachel Allen to mentor Courtney Drew; and Courtney Kerley to mentor Kristine Tuel—and the motion carried on a roll-call vote with all yeas. Member Bebar moved to approve employment of Cheyenne McMillion as a high school social studies teacher; Runyen seconded and the motion passed on a roll-call vote of all yeas.
The board also approved extracurricular hires. Member Runyen moved to hire Vanessa Gower as high school student council sponsor and junior high and high school scholastic bowl sponsor, Jason Jacobs as junior high assistant girls basketball coach, and Megan Howell as junior high cross country coach. Member Curran seconded; roll call recorded Member Howell as abstaining while all other members voted yea, and the motion carried. The board recorded these votes during the public session following an executive session on personnel.
