Assessor reports steady sales, seven new homes under construction and upcoming equalization

Township Assessor John Killeen told the Chemung Township board on Feb. 19 that new sales remain "on track" with prior volumes and that prices continue to hold steady. He said seven new homes are under construction in the township, including two duplexes, and two new foundations are underway.
Killeen said McHenry County will issue the annual equalize factor in March; his office will apply the equalizer to all properties when it is issued and compare equalized values to market values for 2025. He also said exemption forms for the 2025 Senior Freeze will be available the first week of March and encouraged anyone who might qualify to check with his office or the county. Appeal season and Board of Review hearing dates were listed as to-be-determined in the minutes.
