Students prepare for homecoming; board honors two students as 'Student of the Month'

The student representative told trustees the homecoming court assembly is Sept. 25, the parade is Friday, Sept. 26 in Solvang and the homecoming dance theme is "Rio," complete with a DJ and photo booth. She also listed 26 active clubs on campus including new clubs such as engineering, coffee, esports, rodeo, medical careers and music appreciation.
The board recognized Rancell Perez Nunez as the Elks Club student of the month and later honored senior Louie Mathis as the September senior student of the month. The superintendent described both students' academic and extracurricular accomplishments, noting GPAs (Rancell ~3.5; Louie 3.8 weighted), concurrent enrollment at Allan Hancock and leadership roles in FFA and other clubs. Each honoree receives a $100 award under the sponsored program.
