Board approves use of Proposition 30 and Prop. 28 funds for certificated salaries and arts contracts

The board approved two recurring, fund-specific authorizations. Second, the board reviewed and approved the Proposition 28 arts and music annual report. Staff explained that although Prop. 28 funding is intended to support arts and music staffing, some programs do not fund full-time positions; in those cases the county uses the available funds to contract arts and music instruction. "So when you see the zeros, it's not that nothing's being done," the presenter said, referencing the waiver that permits the use of funds for non-full-time staff in such cases.
Both motions passed unanimously.
