The Solon City Council voted unanimously on Aug. 3 to amend ordinance 2026-99 and set the City Master Plan date to 2029, following a request from the Charter Review Committee.
Bradley Nitis, vice chair of the Charter Review Committee, explained the committee met with the planning director and recommended moving the master-plan date to 2029 to avoid overtaxing staff capacity. "We met with planning director Iona and mister Stolarski, and we want to honor that they have a lot number of competing priorities at this time," Nitis said, asking that the date be changed and that a citizens land-use advisory committee be formed in the interim.
Councilor (speaker 3) moved to amend the ordinance to the requested date, and the council then voted to approve the amended ordinance under suspension. The council completed final passage on the record that night. The amendment will go to the ballot as scheduled and staff will coordinate the proposed advisory committee in early 2027.
