District staff report on curriculum review, enrollment and school activities
Summary
Directors and principals updated the board on curriculum review work, special education enrollment, staffing openings, student activities, author visits and safety procedures across Central SD 51 schools.
District administrators updated the board on curriculum and school operational matters May 11. Mr. Halpin, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, reviewed curriculum review plans for CIS social studies and CPS 3rd–4th grade science, a curriculum planning flow chart and a licensed staff mentoring program; staff also discussed software license information.
Principals from CPS and CIS provided enrollment and activity updates including staff appreciation, art and music showcases, STEM and SEL events, Kindergarten registration and benchmark reviews. Mr. King provided special education demographic and Child Count enrollment figures and TMCSEA updates. The reports were received as informational; no formal board action was taken at the meeting on these items.
