The Common Council on Dec. 4 approved use of accumulated DEA Asset Forfeiture funds to purchase six body armor vests for the Lockport Police Department, amending the 2024 General Fund budget to increase revenue (A3120.34389) and expense (A3120.52070) by $16,648.80. Alderman Kirchberger moved the amendment and Alderman Craig seconded it; the council adopted the resolution unanimously (Ayes 6).
The resolution notes the Police Chief confirmed the funds could be used for department upgrades and equipment. The budget amendment updates revenue and expenditure lines to reflect the one-time purchase using forfeiture funds.
