The Southwest Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Aug. 20 to hold a public hearing on the proposed 2024–25 budget and the proposed 2024 tax rate on Aug. 27, 2024. Trustee Daniel Carrillo made the motion to set the public hearing date; Trustee Florinda Bernal seconded and the motion carried with all members present voting yes.
The board also approved Aug. 27, 2024 as the date for a special meeting to finalize the 2023–24 final budget amendment and to adopt the 2024–25 budget and tax rate. Trustee Florinda Bernal moved to set the special meeting date and Trustee Jose Diaz seconded; all trustees present voted in favor. The minutes do not include the proposed tax-rate number or budget totals; those will be presented at the Aug. 27 hearing.
