The Village of Maybrook Board of Trustees unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year 2026 budget on April 28, 2025 after a brief public hearing that drew no public comment. Mayor Dennis Leahy gave the overview and Trustees voted 5–0 to adopt the plan.
Mayor Leahy told the board that the budget includes a $100,000 increase in the tax levy — from $2,122,401 in 2024–25 to $2,222,401 in 2025–26 — and emphasized that “NO FUND BALANCE is applied to this budget.” He presented tax‑rate examples showing the Montgomery (Maybrook) tax rate rising to $18.74 per $1,000 assessed value, a 4% increase; a $200,000 assessed home would see its annual tax go from $3,610 to $3,748, an increase of $138. He said the Hamptonburg rate decreases to $10.82 per $1,000, a 1% decline, reducing the tax on a $200,000 assessed home by about $26 per year.
The board opened and closed the public hearing during the meeting and then moved to adopt the budget by motion (Trustee William Treco moved; Trustee William Giannico seconded). The motion passed 5 ayes, 0 nays. The board posted the Tentative Budget and made hard copies available at the Maybrook Government Center, per the mayor’s summary.
The budget summary also noted that this is the seventh consecutive year the village has applied zero fund balance to the adopted budget. The board did not record any public objections during the hearing; trustees did not add amendments on the floor.
