The Village of Maybrook filed its tentative 2025–26 budget by the March 20 deadline, the board said at its March 24 meeting. The budget shows a $100,000 increase in the tax levy, from $2,122,401 for 2024–25 to $2,222,401 for 2025–26, and uses no fund balance for the seventh consecutive year.
Under the tentative plan, the tax rate for Montgomery (Maybrook) residents would rise to $18.74 per $1,000 assessed, a 4% increase from $18.05; a $200,000 assessed home would see the annual tax go from $3,610 to $3,748 (an $138 increase). Hamptonburg’s rate is proposed at $10.82, a decline of $0.13 (about $26 less per year for a $200,000 assessed home). Hard copies of the budget were made available at the Maybrook Government Center and posted on the village website for residents who requested them.
The board did not state who presented the budget in the transcript; the filing and the rate details were recorded in the meeting materials and announced during the Mayor’s report. The tentative budget will proceed through the village’s normal adoption process and is subject to any statutorily required public hearings and final passage.
