Recycling up in Seminole County; officials cite more than 21,000 tons in 2025

A county presenter told attendees that Seminole County's residential recycling collection rose to more than 21,000 tons in 2025, up from 18,500 tons in 2023.
"Seminole County collected more than 21,000 tons of residential recycling in 2025, up from 18,500 tons in 2023," the presenter said. County staff described the trend as "in the right direction" and tied continued improvement to better capture of materials through education and operational adjustments.
Staff emphasized that knowing which materials are still reaching trash bins will let outreach teams target messages and let operations place resources where they can keep more recyclables out of the landfill. "When we're talking about recycling, education, outreach, we wanna see what materials are actually being captured and what's not," a staff member said.
The presenter did not provide a schedule for publishing full study results or a precise breakdown of material types by percentage during the meeting.
