Council approves $95,000 base playground purchase for Bloomfield Park; installation planned in October

The Rosemount City Council voted 5–0 on Aug. 3 to approve the purchase of playground equipment for Bloomfield Park from Northland Recreation following a staff recommendation and community review.
Mr. Schultz, presenting the proposals, said the city issued an RFP to six vendors with a base equipment price of $95,000 and sought neighborhood input via an open house, online voting and review by the youth commission and the parks and natural resources commission. "We sent the RFP out with a base price of $95,000 for the equip, which is what they all target in their plans," Schultz said.
Schultz said the plan, if approved, is to remove the existing playground equipment in September and install the new equipment in October to minimize disruption. After a motion and second the council approved the purchase; Mayor Weisensel announced, "And that item passes 5 0 and completes item 9 a on the playground proposal Northland Recreation." The motion was recorded as moved by Tyson and seconded by Breske.
Staff will follow up on contract finalization and scheduling for removal and installation; the parks and recreation team will notify nearby residents of work dates.
