Highwood says SanDisk will tighten security and cut late-night hours after complaints

Mayor Picaro told the council on Aug. 4 that following resident concerns about safety the city met with the owner of SanDisk, and the business agreed to changes in security procedures and reduced hours.
"We also ask them to reduce their hours from 3AM to midnight," the mayor said, adding the city will review the changes in one month. The mayor said the business was "very happy to work with the city" on the adjustments and that the city had asked for additional security measures.
The announcement followed public comments about crime earlier in the meeting. The mayor framed the action as responsive to residents— concerns and said the city would follow up to ensure the changes are implemented and effective.
