At a special meeting July 11, the Sun Valley Mayor and City Council approved the Fiscal Year 2017–2018 Tentative Budget Revenues and Expenditures as modified during the session and directed staff to advertise legal notice for a public hearing on August 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM for the annual appropriation ordinance. Council President Keith Saks made the motion, Council Member Brad DuFur seconded it, and a roll call vote recorded four ayes and no nays.
During the discussion council members recorded line-item changes: Other Government expenditures were noted at $4,616,678; Operating Expenditures totaled $5,854,993, yielding a surplus of $334,144; and Total Expenditures were recorded as $6,634,740. Council members also expressed opposition to a proposed 3% property tax increase; no property-tax increase was approved at the meeting.
