During the action portion of the June 18 special meeting, Director of Public Safety Walt Femling reviewed progress on providing backup power at Elkhorn Fire Station and Assistant Fire Chief Taan Robrahn described a cost-effective option. Robrahn told the council the station currently lacks a backup generator and recommended purchasing two generators with installation and gas plumbing.
Council Member Jane Conard moved to approve the expenditure of $79,177, plus plumbing to hook up the natural gas, to purchase two generators and cover installation for Elkhorn Fire Station, with the expense charged to the FY2018 budget. The motion was seconded by Council President Keith Saks. A roll call vote recorded AYES from Council President Keith Saks, Council Member Brad DuFur and Council Member Jane Conard; NAYS: none. Mayor Peter Hendricks declared the motion approved. The council then moved to adjourn at 12:01 PM.
