Council accepts deed in lieu to acquire industrial property at 57 E. 24th Street

The City Council approved Resolution #2026-23 to accept a deed in lieu of foreclosure for the vacant industrial property at 57 East 24th Street. Alderman Sonia Perez moved the resolution and Alderman Renee Smith seconded; the council approved the measure unanimously of members present.
Corporation Counsel T.J. Somer said the property owner agreed to convey the parcel to the City in lieu of outstanding liens, and that after acquisition the City would eliminate the delinquent taxes and make the property marketable. The council’s action authorizes the acquisition and subsequent tax-clearing steps.
