Mark Zordan of Johnson Engineering presented the Lee County NPDES Permit FLS000035-004 Cycle 4 Year 7 Annual Report, reporting that Lee County reviewed and approved the report and it will be submitted to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in advance of the Nov. 1, 2024 deadline. He said the board was instructed to continue reporting into Year 8 while awaiting a new permit cycle.
Board members and staff discussed that Lee Countys review was complete and that water sampling requirements could change in future permit cycles; Mr. Adams emphasized that stormwater ponds are expected to catch and retain runoff and "are not held to the same standard as natural lakes." Staff noted a Johnson Engineering representative attends bi-monthly Lee County NPDES meetings and will forward minutes to the District Manager.
