Board reviews Traffic Calming Assessment, approves shrub removal to restore speed sign visibility

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed Tier 1 and Tier 2 strategies from the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025 and said education-based measures, road, bike and golf cart safety actions "started work" by Mr. Conway. Krebs told the board that "Three permanent and one mobile speed radar signs will be delivered throughout the property the first week in February," and that speeding violations have decreased since initial measures.
Chair Bob Schultz presented photos and an email from Mr. McNeill expressing safety concerns about an overgrown shrub obscuring a speed sign at 21800 Southern Hills Drive; the Board agreed with Mr. Krebs's suggestion to remove the shrub, and Mrs. Adams will reply to Mr. McNeill advising of that decision. Members discussed possible "Do not pass golf cart" signage at entrances and crosswalks and the Pelican Sound Board's consideration of bylaw changes on traffic violations.
