The City Council approved Ordinance #2026-04 to grant a special-use permit allowing an automobile minor service facility to operate at 1148 South Halsted Street, the application of Jamie Baltazar doing business as Rayito's Tire. Alderman Sonia Perez moved the ordinance and Alderman Renee Smith seconded; the measure carried by unanimous vote of members present.
Corporation Counsel T.J. Somer told the council the matter had gone before the Joint Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission and that “the Joint Board unanimously approved the special use permit, and approval by City Council was now being sought.” The council followed the board’s recommendation and approved the permit.
