River Ridge asks board representatives to coordinate long-term storm-surge resilience planning

Eric Long, PSGRC general manager, urged the River Ridge CDD to participate in resilience planning to address increasing storm-surge impacts and requested board and staff representatives to serve on an advisory or review panel. Long described a multi-agency effort that could take a decade and asked for the CDDs support in coordinating with state, county and village partners.
Long presented a hypothetical map and told the board that "a 10' to 12' storm surge could have caused 45% to 55% of the community to be flooded," arguing that protective measures will require long-term planning and intergovernmental cooperation. The board agreed that Long and newly appointed Keith Merrill would assist and authorized Charlie Krebs to provide technical support as needed.
