Spire Missouri asked the Clay County Board of Equalization to record the company’s 2026 property assessment consistent with the declarations it submitted. "So on behalf of Spire, Missouri, we had sent in our 2026 declarations and for the evidence and information to provide to the board, we request that the assessment be entered consistent with the declarations that have been provided," said Carl Panch, a Spire representative.
Panch said the declarations align with Missouri law and appellate decisions and offered to answer any questions; the board did not ask substantive questions during the presentation. The exchange focused on whether the county’s valuation method should reflect the classification and life assumptions included in Spire’s filings.
