Council approves one-year Pizzo stewardship contract for butterfly garden, not to exceed $5,000
Summary
The council approved a one-year stewardship contract with Pizzo to manage the butterfly/pollinator garden (April–November) for up to $5,000; Pizzo will perform invasive control, seed work and routine maintenance.
Beth Denton, territory manager for Pizzo Stewardship, told the council the contractor completed the last phase of stewardship work at the butterfly garden and provided photographs showing installation of an erosion blanket.
Denton presented a proposed 2025 stewardship contract covering invasive and non-native vegetation control (hand-pulling, brush cutting, mowing or treatment), seed collection and dispersal, and routine maintenance from April through November. The council approved a one-year contract "not to exceed $5,000," with a motion by Mike Botelho and a second from Nancy Thill; the roll-call vote was 5–0 in favor.
Council discussed revisiting the stewardship in 2026 depending on results; the contract includes time, travel and supplies.
