Teachers' association urges allowance for informal motions inside Interest-Based Bargaining

A representative of the Minidoka County Education Association (MCEA) addressed the board during the special negotiations meeting and praised the collaborative Interest-Based Bargaining approach the parties have used. The speaker said the association would like a small procedural adjustment to permit 'motions for informal discussion' when helpful, to allow more open, back-and-forth conversation while remaining committed to the collaborative process.

"We’d like to continue working within that framework, but also suggest that, when it feels helpful, we introduce motions for informal discussion," the MCEA representative said. The association added that the goal of the adjustment would be to remain collaborative, flexible and focused on finding common ground and that any change should keep discussions respectful and aligned with the spirit of the agreement.
