Policy committee votes to retain district policy on private technology devices

Committee Chair Scott Garbini reported that a staff survey produced 44 responses; administrators who reviewed the issue told the committee they were not seeing major problems with the existing rules and are working with students to promote appropriate use. The principals of the middle and high school campuses reported they are educating students on phone use and did not recommend changes to the written policy.
On a motion by Nanci DeRobbio, seconded by Becky Amanti, the committee voted to retain the policy as written; the minutes record the motion as carried, 3-0. No amendments or implementation changes were adopted at the meeting.
