Committee outlines goals for modern police station; planning commission to include questions in master plan survey

Mike Mumper presented findings from an Exploratory Joint Villages Committee that reviewed police facilities in Michiana and Grand Beach and recommended a modernized shared police station designed for public access, staff work environment, confidential interview space and secure evidence storage.
The council turned the matter to the Planning Commission so the proposal can be included in the master plan engagement. Julie Bonello said the Planning Commission will incorporate police‑station modernization questions into the January resident survey that begins the public‑engagement phase of the master plan.
