Michiana updates water work: drywells, EPA Project Plan and planned pump installation

Street and water staff reported several near‑term water and stormwater activities. Street Superintendent Rick Reitz said two additional drywells were installed on Long Lake Shore Drive (Stops 38 and 39), bringing this year's total to four budgeted drywells. The council also noted that crews will be flushing hydrants over the next couple of weeks to maintain system reliability.
Council member Mike Mumper said he is working with contractor Down to Earth on the park irrigation system and that "Merritt is working the Project Plan which will have to go over to the EPA for approval." Mumper added that the new pump is on hand and Rick Reitz hopes to install it in November, temporarily running the system on a single pump during the work.
