Public works reports half the wastewater flow now using new headworks; trustees discuss mosquito spraying

Public works staff (Pat) updated trustees on ongoing maintenance and the wastewater plant transition, saying roughly half of the flow is now moving through the new portion of the treatment plant while the old lift station remains in service for the other half as staff finish adjustments.
Pat also described mosquito surveillance: county traps have detected West Nile–carrying mosquitoes in surrounding areas, though the village has not recorded a positive hit. "The amount of alarms at the plant, just so everybody knows, is overwhelming," Pat said while describing ongoing troubleshooting and overtime staffing. Trustees asked whether the village should preemptively spray turf near events; staff said the county typically initiates spraying after a positive mosquito test but offered a plant-based turf spray as a possible targeted option for event areas and agreed to plan a spray this week if weather permits.
