Park lawn and irrigation project progresses; council says upkeep won’t increase costs for residents

Council members and staff reported that the new park lawn installation is essentially complete and that irrigation is in place. Mike Mumper said the contractor will perform an initial fertilizing and mowing, followed by another round of fertilization in November and again in the spring; he "has been very pleased with the results." The council confirmed there will be no additional cost to residents for ongoing mowing, leaf cleanup and tree watering.
Tree protection measures were installed and staff are coordinating irrigation operations: metal fencing was placed to protect recently planted trees from deer and watering of new trees will continue as previously done. The Tree Board and volunteers are helping with plantings and the council acknowledged ongoing coordination between staff and the contractor Down to Earth.
