District reviews school-meal finances and summer feeding plan; superintendent flags CEP possibility

School Nutrition Director Katie Rogers presented detailed NSLP claim tables, participation figures and a proposal to use the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for parts of the district next year. Her report included April participation totals, reimbursement figures and district negative meal balances totaling -$20,296.57; she also outlined a mobile-route summer feeding plan (June 9–Aug. 1) with specific stop times and locations around Rupert and nearby neighborhoods.
Superintendent Spencer Larsen told the board he was "discussing with Daryl and Katie about the possibility of moving to CEP for school meals," while Rogers told the board the district will not deny meals to students and described the district's practice of notifying families when accounts fall below thresholds and pursuing collection only after school-year-end. The board asked staff to continue outreach and to return with cost/projection detail for any CEP shift before committing.
