Erin Tighe told the Jacksonville School District #117 Board of Education Committee on Jan. 15 that she “didn't feel the Board adequately represents the community” and asked the board to update the district's social studies curriculum. Tighe provided a contact number, 217-320-2487, while addressing the committee during the public comment period.
Tighe's remarks were followed by Tony Burton, who spoke without providing contact information and said he wanted improved communication and to work collaboratively with administration. The board acknowledged the comments in the minutes but made no verbal response during the meeting. The committee adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
