Human resources staff presented proposed updates to board policies and administrative regulations and announced a leadership transition.
Doug Meza reintroduced Melissa Winters, the district’s director of human resources, who said the proposed updates align district policies with California Department of Education guidance and the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Winters highlighted several specific changes: language encouraging recruitment and retention of a racially and linguistically diverse staff, retention of a drug‑free workplace policy that prohibits cannabis use while on the job, and an AR revision to reflect AB 1667 by requiring a TB risk assessment and reserving TB skin testing only for identified risk factors.
She also noted updates to DOJ fingerprint notification procedures and to personnel‑record retention language, and said the proposed materials will return to the board for approval at a future meeting. Winters, who will leave the district on June 30, thanked colleagues and said it had been an honor to serve.
